A yachting enthusiast and entrepreneur, Capt. Brett started his love affair with the water at age 5. He owned his first boat at age 11, and his love of boats and the marine industry grew from there.
Today Capt. Brett holds his United States Coast Guard 100 GRT Masters Credential. He is a member of the National Safe Boating Council, American Boat and Yacht Council, the Marine Trades Association of Maryland, the National Marine Manufacturers Association, the Boat U.S. Foundation, and (CAPCA) Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association. Captain Brett also works part-time as one of the fleet captains on the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry, the oldest privately-owned Ferry in the United States (est. 1683).
Capt. Brett began Marine Minute as a way to keep his fellow boaters informed and engaged in issues, articles, and profiles related to the marine industry. Marine Minute offers daily news flashes through Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Marine Minute also maintains its own YouTube Channel. It features in-depth interviews with individuals who impact our industry.
